This past summer, Kirkus Reviews wrapped up its review of We Match! with “Best of all, character cards for the eight animals at the end offer readers opportunities to keep making connections within, and perhaps beyond, the four-legged cast.”

Well, it seems that Kirkus was onto something, because We Match! (illustrated by Sharon Glick and published by Astra Young Readers) is among the winners of the 2025 Endies Endpaper Awards.

Specifically, We Match! won the View from Both Sides Award, for reasons that will be obvious below. While you’re enjoying those images (or downloading the them in the form of trading cards), I’m going to be seeking out the other fabulous-looking winners.

And we should all be thanking Travis Jonker at 100 Scope Notes for the effort he and his fellow judges put into this fun yearly feature, which shines a light on an easily overlooked (by adults, anyway) element of beloved picture books. Thanks, Travis!
