Welcome back. I’ve begun discussing my eventual full-fledged website with a designer friend of mine, but as I’m still a year away from The Day-Glo Brothers‘ publication, there’s no huge rush to get my author website up and running.
In the meantime, I’m studying author sites I admire in order to get a handle on the sort of content I’ll need to create and — this here is important — maintain.
Which authors’ sites am I taking inspiration from? I’m so glad you asked.
Elizabeth Partridge
Monica Brown
Ann Bausum
Jim Murphy
Katherine Kirkpatrick
Loree Griffin Burns
Marc Aronson
Lita Judge
Cynthia Leitich Smith
If there are any author sites you admire, won’t you kindly consider giving them a shout-out in the comments section?
Jo Knowles has one of the coolest author sites I’ve seen.

Happy New Year, Chris, to you and your family.
I’ve always liked Peter SÃs’s website, and was reminded of it because I was just there the other day. I especially appreciate that it’s geared toward older readers of picture books, which might be something you’d find useful :)
Thanks for the tips, Don and Becky. Another loyal (but shy) Bartography reader pointed out Mo Willems’ site has been done largely in Blogger — check out the links for F.A.Q.’s and Stuff, as well as for his blog (obviously).
Hi Chris,
I stumbled across your blog awhile ago and was very interested in the children’s book you are writing about my uncles. I mentioned it to my dad (Fred) and he said he knew something was in the works.
I am an elementary school teacher and rarely have spoken about my uncles and their discovery because it seems so complex. Anyway, I am waiting for your book to come out and I’m sorry to see it’ll be another year before that happens.
