From Publishers Weekly a couple of weeks ago (right as I was getting ready for a two-part trip to Chicago and the Adirondack Mountains, hence my delay in sharing this news):
“Rebecca Davis while at Astra Young Readers has acquired world rights for Not Today, Blue Jay by Chris Barton (l.) (Shark vs. Train), illustrated by Adam Ming, a twist on the classic story ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf,’ which looks at how important it can be to speak up, even if not everyone wants to hear your warnings. Millie von Platen will edit; publication is set for spring 2027. Victoria Wells Arms at HG Literary represented the author, and Lydia Silver at Darley Anderson (UK) represented the illustrator.”
I’ve loved Adam’s work ever since I encountered it a couple of years back in Down the Hole, the picture book he created with Scott Slater and which I highly recommend. I can’t wait to see his art for our new one!

Congratulations on the announcement of your latest book, Chris!
Thank you, Gloria!
