Real quick-like:
- Publishers Weekly has a new Children’s Bookshelf weekly newsletter, which you can sign up for here. The first one came out yesterday and was impressively packed with info.
- According the HarperCollins’ full-page ad in yesterday’s New York Times, voting has ended for the Quills, the new Oscar/Grammy/Emmy-esque awards show for books. Pardon me for not getting all lathered up with enthusiasm over this. My gusto for awards shows fell off considerably a few years ago when I learned about the Stevies — the American Business Awards. (“And the Stevie for Best Overall Company of the Year – Non-Service Businesses goes to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….”)
- And I also can’t muster much indignation over the initial task of contestants on Martha Stewart’s new show — whipping up a children’s book in, what, 17 1/2 minutes? I just want to see how special guest Anne Schwartz does.
Hi Chris:

Oh, blecch…I’m nauseated! Sigh…
