My cell phone doesn’t have a camera — it barely has a phone — so I was unable to document the occasion, but I had the pleasure yesterday afternoon of getting together for a drink with Jen Robinson, who’s visiting Austin this week.
Jen’s story — in which a Ph.D. in industrial engineering realizes what she’s truly passionate about (follow link above) — reminds me of something I told my wife many years ago when she was considering a drastic career change: The thing in life you’re going to be best at might be something you haven’t started doing yet.
Not so long after I came up with that aphorism, I realized it applied to me as well. What I hadn’t counted on was how much fun it can be to get better at what you’re best at. Here’s to everyone who’s figuring that out for themselves.
