I’m happy to share the news that my most recent book, We Match! (illustrated by Sharon Glick and published last year by Astra Young Readers), has been named a finalist for the 2025 Writers’ League of Texas Book Awards.

The winners in all five categories — Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Middle Grade/Young Adult, and Picture Book — have been announced as well, so I’m happy to congratulate Anne Wynter, whose So Many Years: A Juneteenth Story (pictures by Jerome Pumphrey) is the winner in the Picture Book category.

Have a look a the full list of winners, finalists, and Discovery Prize recipients (including Debbie Zapata for Picture Book), and here’s to many jobs well done by a bevy of my fellow Texas writers!
