We authors can never know when a book review might appear, but I always find it reassuring when a good one shows up long after I stop expecting it.

This Booklist review of We Match!—nearly five months after the publication of my picture book with illustrator Sharon Glick (published by Astra Young Readers)—is a great example.

After lots of well-deserved praise for Sharon’s artwork, the review concludes, “In this cheerful cavalcade of connection, experienced picture-book author Barton unleashes a light-touch tale about finding common ground—not by ignoring differences, but by noticing what we share despite them.”

That’s an appreciation worth waiting for!
