Four signed copies of Book or Bell? (Bloomsbury, 2017) are up for grabs in this month’s giveaway!
This picture book, which I wrote and Ashley Spires (The Most Magnificent Thing) illustrated, begins like this:
One Tuesday morning, Henry found the most awesome book about a bike.
The first page had him hooked.
The second page had him captivated.
The third page . . .
BBBBRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!
. . . would have to wait.
But when Henry decides that he’d rather ignore the bell and just keep reading, three highly qualified experts on education — Mayor Wise, Governor Bright, and Senator Brilliant — swoop in to solve a problem that couldn’t possibly be handled by Henry’s classroom teacher.
(No, it’s fiction — why do you ask?)
Subscribers to my monthly Bartography Express newsletter (folks can sign up here) are eligible for one of those personalized copies.
If you’d like one of those Book or Bell? winners to be you, by the end of September either say so in the comments below or email me directly, and you’ll be in the running. (U.S. mailing addresses only.)
Good luck!

Hi, Chris, Book or Bell sounds like a fun one. I’d love to win a copy! :-)
I would love to be the winner of an autographed copy “Book or Bell.” Meanwhile, let me give a heartwarming promotion of the book “All of a Sudden and Forever.” It’s just a time of year where I reflect on all that has happened to our country and this story is a beautiful work about help and healing in the aftermath.
Chris, I would love a copy of your book, Book or Bell that is autographed by you.
Your books have inspired me this year to do a spotlight the author lesson about you & your books. Would love to add this book…
