I don’t know about you, but as 2022 begins I’ve never in my life felt more like moving forward. So it’s fitting that my brand-new nonfiction picture book is called Moving Forward: From Space-Age Rides to Civil Rights Sit-Ins with Airman Alton Yates.
Illustrated by Steffi Walthall and published by Beach Lane Books/Simon & Schuster, Moving Forward explores one young man’s role in both scientific and social progress through a pair of fascinating historical episodes that you’ve probably never heard of.
Moving Forward is officially out on January 11, and I’m celebrating its publication with a giveaway. Subscribers to my monthly Bartography Express newsletter (folks can sign up here) are eligible for one of four signed copies.
If you’d like the winner to be you, by the end of this month either say so in the comments below or email me directly, and you’ll be in the running. (U.S. mailing addresses only.)
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a passage from Moving Forward that’s been on my mind a lot lately. Here’s to continuing our progress.
I’m so excited to see this book! Yes, it’s time to move forward (with reading, anyway!)
Have a happy book birthday week!
