Cynsations has a new interview with Laura McGee Kvasnosky, the author-illustrator of the Zelda and Ivy books, including a new one due this June, Zelda and Ivy: The Runaways.
When 7-year-old S was merely 4-year-old S, he was bonkers for Zelda and Ivy, so much so that he wrote Kvasnosky his first (and so far only) fan letter. She replied with a kind note, a little sketch, and the tantalizing news that another book about the fox sisters was on the way — in far-off 2007, it seems she said at the time. I’m glad we don’t have to wait that long.
The third story in Zelda and Ivy and the Boy Next Door has had a lingering effect on our household, in that not one but both of my boys are apt to render (or rend) “The Star Spangled Banner” without warning or volume control. At least if The Runaways inspires them to reenact the title, they’ll be easy to track.
