A power surge during a thunderstorm yesterday fried the internal power supply on my PC. The guy at the repair shop said it looked like the hard drive was in good shape, but we’ll find out later today.

Meanwhile, all that data — queries, drafts, revision notes, contact histories — that I haven’t backed up in, um, months has been passing before my eyes. Passing, I might add, too quickly for me to take good notes by hand…

Note to universe: Wake-up call received. From now on I will be a good boy and back up frequently.

Update, 9:05 p.m.: Thanks for your good wishes. All is well. Nothing was lost, but no amazing new stories were mysteriously added to my hard drive during the storm, either — though that idea itself might make for a good story…
